Formulas & Parameter

Crucial for the classification of wire mesh are the parameters "mesh size" (w) and "wire diameter" (d). The wire diameter also determines the gauge of the cloth.

The most common forms of structure are plain and twill weaves. Other types can also be supplied.

Plain Weave

W&E | Drahtgewebe | Formulas & Parameter | Types of Mesh
The plain weave provides particularly accurate mesh sizes. It is produced by the constantly alternating of the warp and weft wires.
The attributes can be modified or changed for special requirements.

Mesh Fineness

W&E | Drahtgewebe | Formulas & Parameter | Types of Mesh
The mesh fineness denotes the number of wires per inch (25,4 mm) and also referres to the mesh size (w) and the wire diameter (d).

Open Screen Area

W&E | Drahtgewebe | Formulas & Parameter | Types of Mesh
The open screen area Ao is defined in per cent of all the mesh apertures relative to the total screen area. It is a result of the relation of mesh size (w) and wire gauge (d):
